Founder and president Joe Griffin started the company as a sole proprietor in 1996, then graduated to a corporation in 2003. Griffin is a service-disabled military veteran, which entitles his firm to compete for federal set aside contracts.
"We are the sole supplier for pool and patio furniture and balcony furniture for all the U.S.embassies and USAID housing in the world, under a State Department contract," Griffin said. " This is our ninth year as sole source."
Working with a staff of 10, Griffin has built a multimillion-dollar business from his base near Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. The company operates all over the world, with heavy emphasis on resorts in Florida, the Caribbean and South and Central America. In Florida, clients include Orlando's Sea World and Tampa's Busch Gardens.

Contract Furnishings represents about a dozen American manufacturers - some from the local community, others are Florida-based businesses, national companies and some overseas factories. The bulk of the company's business is outdoor furniture including aluminum patio furniture and pool furniture, Grosfillex commercial resin furniture, park and playground furniture, commercial umbrellas, wicker and rattan, wrought iron and furniture for restaurants and outdoor dining. Company clients include hotels and resorts worldwide, along with U.S. military bases, U.S. embassies, NATO, waterparks, theme parks, apartment complexes and homeowner associations.
